D.        1-YEAR PRE-NATIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

 

General Entry Requirement

 Candidates must possess the West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate or GCE/O' Level or its equivalent with a minimum of 2 Credits and 2 Passes from the subjects listed under the programme. Candidates are expected to have at least Passes in English Language and Mathematics.

 Furthermore, candidates are expected to sit for and pass the JAMB/PCE Examination to enable them proceed for the National Diploma accordingly.

 

 1.      For Agricultural Technology

 At least passes in Agricultural Science/Biology and   

Chemistry                                                           

 

E.     GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES

 

1        SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

 

(i)  ND AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY   

Candidates must possess the West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate or GCE/O' Level or its equivalent with a minimum of five Credits in Biology, Agricultural Science and any three from the following subjects: Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, English Language  and Mathematics.

   

(ii)  ND AQUACULTURE AND FISHERIES

Candidates must possess the West African School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate or GCE/O' Level or its equivalent with a minimum of five Credits in Biology, Agricultural Science and any three from the following subjects: Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, English Language, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science.

At least a Pass in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory.

 

2    SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS STUDIES

          (i)             ND ACCOUNTANCY

          (ii)             ND BANKING AND FINANCE

         (iii)            ND BUSINESS STUDIES

        (iv)             ND INSURANCE

 

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 5 credits at one sitting, which must include:  English Language, Mathematics and three subjects from the following: Economics, Business Methods, Accounts, Commerce, Statistics, Geography, Government, one Science subject OR:

 

NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at one sitting, which must include: Mathematics & English and any three from the following: Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Biology, Economics and Social Studies.

 

   (v)  ND MASS COMMUNICATION   

SSCE or WASCE O’level or NECO with at least 5 credits at one sitting,  which must include: English Language, and any other four subjects.

A pass in Mathematics is compulsory.  Passes in Physics or Electronics/Basic Electricity will be an advantage.

 

 (vi)    ND OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (SECRETARIAL STUDIES)

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: English Language, and any four from the following: Business Methods, Commerce, Economics, Typewriting, Shorthand, Principles of Accounts, Mathematics, History, Statistics, Literature-in-English, Government, Geography,  Biology, CRK/Islamic Studies, any one science subject. 

At least a pass in Mathematics is compulsory. OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include English Language, Shorthand and Typing and any two from the following: Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Biology, Economics or Social Studies.

 

3.         SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY

 

(i)     ND HOTEL & CATERING MANAGEMENT

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits  at two sittings, which must include: Biology/Agricultural Science and any four from  the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Food and Nutrition/Home Management, Health Science, Geography, English Language.

At least passes in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory. OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Biology, Food & Nutrition and Basic Cookery and any two from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics, Basic Electronics, English and Home Management.

At least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

(ii)    ND SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics and two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or Chemistry, and two other subjects from Technical Drawing, Metal and Wood-Work, Geography, Further Mathematics, Art, Physics, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Chemistry and English Language.

At least a Pass in each of the three basic sciences i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics is required.  A Pass grade in English Language is also compulsory.

           

(iii)    ND COMPUTER SCIENCE  TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 5 credits at one sitting,  which must include Mathematics and a social science, then any three of the following: Economics, English, Geography, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Biology/ Agricultural Science. 

Candidates are expected to have at least a pass in English Language and Physics. OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic Electronics and any two from the following: Biology, Chemistry, General Metal Work. 

At least a pass in English is compulsory.

 

(vi)    ND LEISURE & TOURISM

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits  at two sittings, which must include: English Language, Geography, a science subject and  any two from  the following: , Economics,  History, Statistics, Mathematics, Food and Nutrition/Home Management, Government, and French.

At least passes in  Mathematics is  compulsory.

 

(v)   ND FOOD TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with a minimum of five credits at two sittings, which must include Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and any three subjects from: Mathematics, Geography, Economics, English Language, Additional/Further Mathematics, Statistics and at least passes in Physics, Mathematics and English Language are compulsory.

 

4.         SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

(i )        ND ART & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings which must include: English Language and Fine Art, and any three subjects in the Sciences or Arts

 

(ii)   ND BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings which must include: Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry and any three from  the following: Economics, Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Geography, Wood-Work, Biology, English Language ,Building Construction and Government.

At least a pass in English Language is compulsory while a pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.  OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and General Woodwork, and any two from the following: Economics, Biology and English Language. 

At least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

(iii)    ND ESTATE MANAGEMENT

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, English Language and at least a basic science subject, and any two from  the following: Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography, Economics,  OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include English, Mathematics and one basic science from Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and any two from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Economics, Building Engineering Drawing, and Principles of Accounts.

 

(iv)    ND ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings which must include: Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry and any three from  the following: Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing/ Art, Geography, Economics,

English Language and Religious Knowledge.

At least a pass in English Language is compulsory.  OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and General Woodwork, and any two from the following: Economics, Biology and English Language. 

At least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

(v)    ND QUANTITY SURVEYING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings which must include: Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any three from  the following: Building Construction, Technical Drawing/ Art, Economics, Government, Geography, Wood-Work, Religious Knowledge and Biology.

At least a pass in English Language is compulsory.   OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and General Woodwork, and any two from the following: Economics, Biology and English Language. 

At least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

(vi)     ND TOWN & REGIONAL PLANNIG TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics and any three subjects from  the following: Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing/ Art, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science,

One of the three subjects must be a basic science subject. At least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics,  one basic science from Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and any three from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Economics, Building Engineering Drawing, and Principles of Accounts.

 

5.         SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

 

(i)         ND COMPUTER ENGINEERING  TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 5 credits at one sitting,  which must include Mathematics and a basic science, then any three of the following: Economics, English, Geography, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Biology/ Agricultural Science. 

Candidates are expected to have at least a pass in English Language and Physics. OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic Electronics and any two from the following: Biology, Chemistry, General Metal Work. 

At least a pass in English is compulsory.

 

(ii)   ND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least a pass in English Language and five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and two subjects from any of the following: Technical Drawing, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Additional Mathematics, Statistics, Basic Electronics, Metal Work, Wood Work, Fine Art, English Language, Geography and Economics. OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and two from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Basic Electronics, Biology, Building Engineering/Drawing. 

At least a pass in English is compulsory.

 

(iii)    ND AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least a pass in English Language and five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics, Physics, and any three subjects from the following: Biology,  Agricultural Science, Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing and Chemistry. At least passes in Chemistry, Biology, and English Language are  compulsory. OR

 

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics, Physics and Biology and two from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Basic Electronics, Chemistry , Building Engineering/Drawing. 

At least a pass in English is compulsory.

 

(iv)  ND CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(v)  ND ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(vi)   ND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

 

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least a pass in English Language and five credits at two sittings,  which must include: Mathematics and Physics, one Science subject from Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science and two other subjects. In addition, credit or pass grades in anyone of the following:  Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Wood-Work (for Civil Engineering Technology) and Fine Art will be an added advantage.  OR

 

NABTEB (ND Civil Engineering Technology):  With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include Mathematics, Physics and Building Engineering/Drawing, then any two from the following:  Chemistry, Biology, General Woodwork, General Metal work.  At least a pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

NABTEB (ND Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology):  With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic Electronics, then any two from the following:  Chemistry, Biology, General Metal Work, Building/Engineering Drawing.  At least a pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

NABTEB (ND Mechanical Engineering Technology): With at least five credits at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, Physics and General Metal Work, then any two from the following: Chemistry, Biology, General Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Building/Engineering Drawing.

At least a pass in English Language is compulsory.

 

F.        2- YEAR HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) PROGRMMES

 General Entry Requirements

Applicants who possess the following qualifications may be considered for admission into Higher National Diploma programmes:

(i ).       SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for  the corresponding National     

             Diploma Programmes;

(ii).       The National Diploma with a minimum of LOWER CREDIT classification in

             the cognate National Diploma  (ND) programme from an NBTE recognized

             Institution;

(iii).      Candidates must have at least one- year work experience in the field of

             specialization;

(iv).      Candidates with less than a lower credit classification may be required to have at

            least two (2) years work experience before he can be considered for admission.
